Kırıkkale University adopts UN SGDs and a sustainability policy.


1. No Poverty

Kırıkkale University provides meal scholarship or general scholarship or free accommodation to ensure their students' well-being and help them to lessen financial burden if they are not able to access these opportunities themselves and apply for scholarships.

2. Zero Hunger

Kırıkkale University provides healthy and low-cost food in the cafeterias for students and administrative and academic staff every day. The Directorate of Health Sport and Culture at the university manage the balanced meals at the university.

3. Good Health and Well-being

 Kırıkkale University has a tartan track, stadium, 2 indoor sports halls, 4 carpet fields, 1 grass field, 1 football field including 1 tartan track, 12 volleyball, 11 basketball courts, 3 tennis courts, 3 fitness centers in the central campus in order for students to evaluate their free time by doing sports. In addition, there is a Recreation Center consisting of a semi-Olympic swimming pool, fitness center, Turkish bath and sauna within the campus. In Keskin Vocational School campus, there is a sports complex consisting of 2 football fields (1 astroturf field and 1 dirt field), 1 basketball and volleyball courts and a fitness center. Hacılar Hüseyin Aytemiz Vocational School campus has 1 basketball and volleyball court.

5. Gender Equality

Women's Issues Application and Research Center works within Kırıkkale University to fulfill the following missions:

To develop social sensitivity against women's issues and gender discrimination in cooperation with the relevant departments and units of the university,

To monitor and make research and studies public in all fields related to women's issues in Türkiye, and abroad and to conduct research in various fields within the framework of our objectives,

To contribute to the process of general consciousness and mentality transformation towards women's empowerment and ensuring equality between women and men;

To guide studies, researches, plans and programs related to women to incorporate a “gender perspective”; to support and develop the studies carried out with this perspective and to contribute to the dissemination of positive results throughout the country. 6. Clean Water and Sanitation

Kırıkkale University, which meets its clean water needs with its own means, does not pay a fee for water. Kırıkkale University meets its water needs from 2 caissons and 2 boreholes located on the banks of Kızılırmak. The water taken from the wells is collected in the raw water tank. After that, the water treated with the clean water treatment system is sent to the product water tank. Water is pumped from the product water tank to the 2x3000 m3 water tanks located on the University campus by the main transfer pumps. Water flows to the buildings from the main water tanks located on the campus by its own gravity. The water used on the main campus is treated at the clean water treatment plant before used, and also wastewater is treated in wastewater plant before released. Water is provided in a closed system from the point of origin to the end user. The parameters of the water are checked in Kırıkkale University laboratories throughout the year.
2 ponds were built on the campus to contribute to the ecosystem and provide natural beauty.



7. Affordable and Clean Energy

Maximum daylight is received into the building thanks to the roof lights and the need for lighting during working hours is reduced. Large windows, central courtyards and ceiling lights provide daylight. The buildings have been designed with interior and central courtyards, and interior and exterior spaces are provided with light. Thermal insulation has been used in all buildings recently constructed in facade insulation and it is aimed to minimize heat losses. (Energy efficient thermal insulation applications)

Thanks to the wide corridors and facade window joinery opening in four directions, the possibility of natural ventilation is quite high in most of the spaces. (Natural Ventilation)



There are bicycle paths on the campus. Kırıkkale University provides free bicycles to students. The Rectorate uses the domestic electric car TOGG as its official vehicle.


There is currently a hot water solar panel application on the campus to benefit from solar energy.

In newly constructed buildings, new generation condensing boilers with high energy efficiency are used in boilers that have completed their duration and are due for replacement, and in buildings that have undergone natural gas conversion.

Shuttles have been allocated for academic and administrative staff at the university. In this way, the number of travel by private vehicles is reduced and greenhouse gas emissions are reduced.

There are public transportation RING lines for the use of students and staff within the campus. Ring lines allow staff and students to travel by public transportation and thus reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This service is provided for little fee for staff and students.


8. Decent Work and Economic Growth

Kırıkkale University has Technopark to support the economic and industrial growth of the region with following missions:

To contribute to the spread of R&D by supporting scientific research, technology, development and innovation activities of university faculty members and private sector organizations

To contribute to the establishment of national-international cooperation between industrial organizations and universities and research institutions

To provide the infrastructure within Technopark where private sector organizations can carry out research and technology development activities

To support the establishment and growth of new companies in the incubation center

To be a bridge institution that provides risk-sharing support to private sector organizations with Technology Transfer Office facilities

9. Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

10. Reduced Inequalities

At Kırıkkale University, the Barrier-Free Life Unit continues to work actively for the following purposes:

To meet the needs of students with disabilities enrolled in higher education programs while they continue their education and to determine the obstacles they may encounter and the measures to be taken against them and to seek solutions to eliminate them, to make the necessary arrangements

To organize education and training programs and environments where university students are not restricted in academic, physical, psychological and social areas, to provide the necessary equipment and to prepare special course materials.

In addition, there is a community garden for disabled people to enjoy spending time for agriculture and preschool for children of working mothers at the university.

Within the scope of the “2021 Barrier-Free University Awards” initiated by the Council of Higher Education of Türkiye in order to raise awareness and disseminate good practices on the access of individuals with disabilities to spaces, educational opportunities and socio-cultural activities in higher education institutions, the Faculty of Education, Law and Engineering and Architecture and Delice and Kırıkkale Vocational Schools were awarded the orange flag, which is the Accessibility in Space Award.

11. Sustainable Cities and Communities

Kırıkkale University provides free accommadation in Residorm (dormitory) for students coming from low income families and low income countries.

Kırıkkale University has Environmental Issues Research and Application Center. This Center carries out studies and researches to improve the quality of environmental education at all levels regarding the protection of the ecological, natural and historical environment in Kırıkkale and its surroundings. It aims to organize and encourage basic and applied research on the environment in the province and within the university, to cooperate with domestic and foreign organizations. For this purpose, it aims to organize symposiums-congress-conferences-seminars-summer schools and courses, to make scientific publications, to carry out activities to improve the environmental awareness of faculty members, lecturers, students, university staff, residents in Kırıkkale and the whole society, and to carry out new projects for the protection and development of the green areas of the province and university. 12. Responsible Consumption and Production

Kırıkkale University provides low-cost food for students and staff in the cafeterias. The University buys the foods and products from local firms. In addition, it has departments such as organic agriculture, mushroom production, plant protection etc. to train students have knowledge and are sensitive about environment and ecology, who are conscious about food production and consumption, who understand the importance of biosafety and biodiversity, and who have a good command of the processes from production to consumption, including marketing, production and processing.

As a responsible consumer, Kırıkkale University enables the collection of plant-based organic waste consisting of cellulosic paper as in previous years. This year, paper waste was collected from the entire campus. In one turn, 4,920 kg and in the second turn, 1,700 kg of paper waste (in total, 6,620 kg) were collected and sent to waste recycling facilities.

Faculty of Medicine and Hospital in Kırıkkale University has contract with ATIKSAN Recycling Company to collect hazardous waste of the university during the year and contract with OPMAR Environmental Technologies Company to collect medical waste during the year. This year, 170 ton medical waste and 12 ton hazardous waste were collected and sent to the recycling facilities.


13. Climate Action

Aproximately 20 articles on green environment, climate change, sustainability and renewable energy were published per annum by the academic staff of Kırıkkale University.



14. Life Below Water

Kırıkkale University has Kızılırmak Research and Application Center. The main purpose of the Kızılırmak Research and Application Center is to determine the current status of the ecosystems in the Kızılırmak River and its basin, to protect them, to prepare, implement and evaluate sustainable development plans, and to carry out interdisciplinary research, education, and coordination services related to the subject. In In addition, it is to cooperate with the relevant institutions and organizations in the settlements through which the Kızılırmak River passes and to ensure coordination for the protection of the Kızılırmak River.

15. Life on Land

Zero Waste Management Unit at Kırıkkale University collects waste separately according to their qualities through waste equipment (metal and PPP-PVC material) in the Main Campus and Satellite Campuses through dual sets of recyclable and non-recyclable waste, paper-glass-plastic-metal-organic-non-recyclable waste equipment sets. For this purpose, cleaning staff have been authorized and a list of staff has been determined. After the waste is collected within the unit, paper and plastic wastes are collected in the temporary waste storage and delivered to the recycling facility. Every year, the data obtained from the action and wastes are added to the report to be submitted to the International IU Greenmetrics Organization, which rates the competence of universities in the field of Environment and Sustainability.

Face-to-face or online trainings and certification are provided for academic, administrative, cleaning and other staff and students (undergraduate, graduate and doctoral) by informing the rectorate within the predetermined schedule every year to ensure the establishment and implementation of the Zero Waste Management system. In addition, in 2024, all academic, administrative and cleaning staff of the university participated in Zero Waste Training through the distance education (e-devlet) and the participant lists were collected from the departments. the event called "Look to the Future with Zero Waste Design" was held at Spring festivals (BESST-IVAL'24, Kırıkkale) at  20.05.2024 Time:10:30-12:00 in the parking space in front of the building of Faculty of Fine Arts. 

Within the scope of Zero Waste Events, an event was held on October 16, 2024 at 13:00 at the Rectorate of the University for all academic, administrative and cleaning-staff and students.

Hand in Hand program for the Zero Waste Event was held simultaneously in the main campus and satellite campuses and received wide participation.

Our university was granted the Zero Waste Certificate at the basic level, which certifies its competence in Zero Waste Management by the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, on 02.10.2024 and was entitled to receive a 5-year validity. In order to use the Zero Waste Management System more consciously and to spread it in our university, within the scope of the Konya Plain Project supported by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye for regional development, a project application titled “Establishment of Zero Waste System in Main Campus and Satellite Campuses in Kırkkale University” was made for the development of the Zero Waste System at our university in 2022 to be evaluated by UNİKOP.  An infrastructure project with the same title are under preparation.

In terms of social contribution, it is planned to increase the number of zero waste activities, to develop artistic design, as well as to establish a toy museum open to visitors developed from waste with the support of student organizations.

16. Peace Justice and Strong Institutions

Kırıkkale University is committed to peace, inclusion and justice in the society and adopts policies in accordance with these values.

Community events organized for the peace and justice for Gaza in accordance with President of Republic of Türkiye's peace policy such as Photograph exhibition on Gaza by Culture, Moral and Civilization Student Organization in March 1, 2024.

17. Partnership For the Goals

Kırıkkale University has strong cooperation with industrial stakeholders. Public University Industry Cooperation (KÜSİ) Board Meeting is organized at regular intervals. Under the chairmanship of our Rector Prof. Dr. Ersan Aslan, cooperation meetings are held with the participation of Vice Rectors, Secretary General, Provincial Representative of KÜSI, General Manager of Technopark, Head of Kırıkkale Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chairman of Kırıkkale Organized Industrial Zone, members of KÜSI Industry and Academic Board and sector representatives to planning R&D activities, discuss the partnership opportunities and streghten the collaboration.
